What This Prompt Does

This prompt asks the AI to function as your psychological mirror, analyzing a recurring conflict from five distinct depths simultaneously. It moves from the surface story you tell yourself down through childhood origin, ego protection mechanism, shadow projection, and finally — the specific behavior you would change if you had the courage.

The final instruction — 'Be uncomfortable. Be precise. Don't comfort me.' — is not decorative. Without it, most AI models default to validating language and gentle reframes. This prompt explicitly removes that option.

COPY THIS PROMPT — The Shadow Mirror

SHADOW WORK
  1. 1Act as my psychological mirror. Here is my biggest recurring conflict: [DESCRIBE IT]. Analyze this pattern from 5 depths: (1) The surface story I tell myself about why this keeps happening. (2) The childhood origin — what early experience taught me this was the way to survive. (3) The ego protection — what this pattern is secretly protecting me from feeling. (4) The shadow projection — what I'm seeing in others that actually lives in me. (5) The specific behavior I would change tomorrow if I had the courage. Be uncomfortable. Be precise. Don't comfort me.

What It Produces

A five-layer analysis of a recurring conflict, moving from surface narrative to childhood adaptive strategy to ego defense to projection to concrete action. The output is structured by depth, not chronology — it goes inward rather than backward.

How to Use It

Choose a conflict that has appeared in multiple forms across your life — in different relationships, different jobs, different contexts, but with the same emotional texture. The recurring quality is what makes it archetypal rather than situational. Describe it specifically: what you do, what the other person does, how it ends, and how you feel afterward.
